World number five Novak Djokovic has officially confirmed his appearance at the 2025 ATP Finals in Turin, as revealed by Angelo Binaghi, the president of the Italian Tennis Federation. The announcement ends days of uncertainty about whether the 24-time Grand Slam champion would feature in the season-ending event.
“We have confirmation that Djokovic will be in Turin,” Binaghi told Italian radio channel Rai Gr Parlamento on Monday.
The ATP Finals 2025 will take place from November 9 to 16, showcasing the top eight players in the world. Djokovic, who holds a record seven titles, last claimed the trophy in 2023. He missed last year’s ATP Finals due to injury and withdrew from the Paris Masters, raising doubts about his fitness. The Serbian star has not competed since his Shanghai Masters semi-final loss to qualifier Valentin Vacherot last month.
Djokovic’s Comeback Energizes Turin Event
Djokovic’s return is expected to bring enormous excitement to the Turin crowd and ATP fans globally. As one of the most accomplished players in history, his presence significantly raises the prestige and competitiveness of the tournament. The 38-year-old remains the most decorated champion in the ATP Finals’ history, underlining his dominance in the indoor season finale.
His decision also gives the event an added promotional boost, ensuring massive viewership and ticket sales for the Italian organizers.
Final Qualification Spot Still Up for Grabs
With Djokovic’s participation confirmed, only one qualifying position remains open. Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, ranked ninth, and Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime, ranked eighth, are in contention. Auger-Aliassime, who made it to the Paris Masters final last week, withdrew from the Moselle Open in Metz on Monday. That gives Musetti a chance to qualify if he wins this week’s ATP 250 event in Athens.
Djokovic’s comeback ensures the 2025 Turin showdown will feature one of the sport’s greatest legends. If Musetti qualifies, the tournament could also have a home favorite for local fans to cheer.
