Sinner Reaches Cincinnati Open 2025 Quarter-FinalsSinner Reaches Cincinnati Open 2025 Quarter-Finals

World No.1 Jannik Sinner powered past French veteran Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to secure a place in the Cincinnati Open 2025 quarter-finals. Sinner broke early in the first set, taking control in the third game. The 37-year-old, ranked 89th, saved a break point with an ace in the seventh game but couldn’t stop Sinner from taking the opener.

Rain Delay and Second Set Battle

Rain halted play for nearly three hours with Sinner trailing 2-1 in the second set. After resumption, Mannarino proved stubborn, saving three break points at 5-5. However, he netted a backhand on the fourth, handing Sinner the decisive break.

Serving for the match at 6-5, Sinner led 30-0. Mannarino earned his first break point and converted it with a stunning forehand return. The Italian responded strongly, taking the tie-break 7-4. This win extended his record to four victories in as many matches against Mannarino.

“He’s a tough opponent,” said Sinner. “Very different to all the other opponents. Not only because he is a leftie but also how he hits the ball – it’s very low. I struggled a bit to close it out but this can happen in this sport and I’m very happy to be in the next round.”
