British No. 1 Jack Draper has ended his 2025 season due to an arm injury, ruling him out of the ATP Finals in Turin. Draper, ranked world No. 7, announced on Monday that he will not compete again this year after withdrawing from the US Open.
The 23-year-old beat Federico Agustin Gomez in the first round at Flushing Meadows but pulled out before the second round as the pain in his left arm became “too much.” Draper wore an arm sleeve during the win and later confirmed the injury requires complete rest.
Draper’s Official Statement
“Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025,” Draper wrote on X.
“It is very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year and playing some great stuff.”
He added: “I’ve been through this before and I always come back stronger as I’m so motivated to fulfil my potential as a player. Huge thanks to everyone who backs me to do well and supports me on my journey. Can’t wait to get back out there and give it my all.”
Career-Best Season Cut Short
The injury is a setback after a breakthrough year for Draper. He rose to a career-high world No. 4 earlier in 2025, powered by his maiden ATP 1000 title at Indian Wells, where he defeated top names including Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz. Draper also reached the Madrid Open final in May.
His consistent performances had placed him in prime position to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin (November 9-16, 2025). To secure a place, he needed to finish inside the top eight.
Injury History and Past Setbacks
Injuries have repeatedly interrupted Draper’s rise. He missed Wimbledon in 2023 with a shoulder issue, battled hip tendinitis into the 2024 Australian Open, and now ends 2025 prematurely with arm trouble. Despite these setbacks, he remains one of the brightest British tennis prospects.
What Lies Ahead
Draper confirmed his focus is now on preparing for the 2026 season, with the Australian Open beginning January 18. With around four months to recover, he hopes this will be only a “minor blip” in his career.
