Early Life & Background

Muralikrishna Prasidh Krishna was born on 19 February 1996 in Bengaluru to Murali and Kalavathi Krishna. His mother, Kalavathi, was a national-level volleyball player, while his father, Murali, was a fast-bowling college cricketer. He began his schooling at Carmel School, Padmanabhanagar. There he played multiple sports—cycling, football, and volleyball—and started emulating bowlers on his way to school. Standing tall at 6′3″ (1.91 m), his stature later became crucial in generating bounce in his bowling.

Personal Traits & Lifestyle

Prasidh is known for his disciplined fitness regime and preference for a “hit‑the‑deck” bowling style influenced by Brett Lee, whom he admired and emulated. He refined his skills under coaches like Glenn McGrath at MRF Pace Academy and Jeff Thomson at Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence. Outside cricket, he enjoys cycling, console gaming, and football—activities that complement his athletic lifestyle.

Personal Life 

Raised in a family that valued sports and discipline, Prasidh Krishna credits his parents for laying the foundation of his cricketing journey. His mother was a national-level volleyball player, while his father played fast bowling at the college level. Growing up in such a supportive environment allowed Prasidh to nurture his athletic potential from a very young age. His parents emphasized the importance of commitment, focus, and humility—values that Prasidh continues to carry with him both on and off the field.

On 8 June 2023, Prasidh married his longtime girlfriend, Rachana Krishna, in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends. Rachana is a highly accomplished professional in her own right. She currently works as a product manager at Dell Technologies in Austin, Texas, and holds an MBA from Boston University.

Youth & Domestic Career

Krishna debuted in first-class cricket for Karnataka in September 2015 during the Bangladesh A tour. He claimed five wickets for 49, including his first ball wicket—an extraordinary entrance. He made his List A debut in February 2017 during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and his T20 debut in January 2018 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

As Karnataka’s strike bowler, he was joint second-highest wicket-taker with 17 dismissals in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. His maiden ten-wicket match haul came in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, where he took 6/35 and 4/59 against Jammu & Kashmir.

International Career

Prasidh earned his ODI debut for India on 23 March 2021 against England in Pune. He made an immediate impact with figures of 4/54, becoming the first Indian in 24 years to take four wickets on ODI debut. He has played 17 ODIs with 29 wickets at an average of 25.58, best figures being 4/12 . In Tests, he debuted on 26 December 2023 against South Africa and has since played 5 Tests, taking 14 wickets at 40.57. T20I debut came on 18 August 2023 against Ireland, and he has picked 8 wickets in 5 matches with an average of 27.50.

IPL Career

In IPL, he started as a net bowler for RCB before KKR signed him as a replacement in 2018. He picked 10 wickets in 7 matches, including a four-wicket haul vs Hyderabad. Playing for KKR (2018–2021), he took 30 wickets in 34 matches . Acquired by Rajasthan Royals in 2022 for ₹10 crore, he claimed 19 wickets in 17 games, forming a potent partnership with Trent Boult. Injuries ruled him out of IPL ’23 and ’24; he underwent quadriceps tendon surgery in March 2024 .

In the record‑breaking IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans bought him and he earned the Purple Cap with a stunning 25 wickets—the highest in the tournament. He has 74 IPL wickets in 66 matches at an economy of 8.77 . Coach Ashish Nehra’s guidance has sharpened his outswing, and teammate Ishant Sharma praised his consistency this season. 

Fitness, Injuries & Comebacks

He’s battled stress fractures and tendon issues. A major quadriceps tendon surgery in March 2024 sidelined him for IPL 2024 . Post-recovery, he returned to the Indian squad for T20Is (Aug 2023) and Test series vs England in mid-2025 . His IPL 2025 Purple Cap performance reflects his hard-earned comeback.
