Deepak Lokendrasingh Chahar was born on 7 August 1992 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Raised in a cricket-loving family, he grew up alongside his cousin Rahul Chahar, who also became a professional cricketer. He began playing cricket on local fields with makeshift equipment, where his early talent for swinging the new ball stood out. Inspired by senior bowlers and instilled with discipline, Chahar developed a strong foundation in his formative years.

Youth & Domestic Career

Chahar burst onto the domestic scene in the 2010–11 Ranji Trophy, claiming remarkable 8/10 on debut for Rajasthan against Hyderabad—bowling them out for just 21, the lowest total in Ranji history. He quickly became a rising bowler, earning spots in India A tours and IPL youth camps by 2016. Across formats, he’s played 52 first-class matches, picking up 149 wickets at 33.16, along with strong performances in List A and T20s: 89 and 184 wickets, respectively.

International Career

Chahar debuted for India in T20Is (8 July 2018 vs England) and ODIs (25 Sept 2018 vs Afghanistan) . He quickly proved his bowling prowess:

Chahar entered IPL with Rajasthan Royals youth contract, then debuted with Rising Pune Supergiant (2016–17).

Chennai Super Kings (2018–2024)
