1997 Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve will make his debut at the 2025 Goodwood Revival. He will race a 1963 AC Cobra named the Hairy Canary. The Canadian will compete in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration from September 12 to 14.
“I am very excited to be participating in the RAC TT Celebration,” Villeneuve said. “It was very frustrating seeing all my pals having fun racing it out last year while I was sitting watching. Driving the Cobra on such a fun track will be an exceptional moment, can’t wait!”
The Duke of Richmond said: “Every year, we are privileged to welcome some of the world’s greatest drivers and riders to the Goodwood Revival. Drawing on experience from across the breadth of motorsport, these competitors turn their skill and passion to historic racing. They often face rivals they’d never otherwise meet on the track. I’m grateful to them for taking the time to join us and look forward to seeing them in action.”
Villeneuve to Join Motorsport Legends at Goodwood Revival
This appearance follows Villeneuve’s participation in the Goodwood Festival of Speed. He joined other F1 champions to celebrate 75 years of Formula 1. During the event, he drove Niki Lauda’s Ferrari 312 B3.
At the 2025 Goodwood Revival, Villeneuve will join 2009 F1 champion Jenson Button, three-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Scott Dixon, and nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen. Other confirmed participants include 24-time World Superbike winner Carlos Checa and four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti. Three-time BTCC champion Gordon Shedden and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will also attend.
Goodwood Revival to Honour F1 Icon Jim Clark
This year’s Goodwood Revival will celebrate two-time F1 champion and 1965 Indy 500 winner Jim Clark. Cars from his career will be showcased and driven on track.
“It’s such a privilege to celebrate Jim Clark at the Goodwood Revival this year,” the Duke of Richmond explained. “His achievements in 1965 are the stuff of legend. He uniquely won the Formula 1 World Championship and Indy 500 in the same season.
“I vividly remember watching him win the final F1 race at Goodwood on Easter Monday 1965. He and Jackie Stewart set the ultimate Goodwood lap record. Having such strong links to Goodwood, and in a year with several anniversaries, we are hugely proud to pay tribute to Jim Clark. Many consider him the greatest driver of all time.”
