Esteban Ocon Calls for Consistency from HaasEsteban Ocon Calls for Consistency from Haas

Esteban Ocon has called for Haas to “get the consistency together” after the team faced a tough Hungarian Grand Prix. The 2025 Formula 1 season has been a rollercoaster for Haas, with some weekends featuring strong performances, while others have ended in disappointing results.

Ocon, who started the race in 17th position, reflected on his struggles after the race. He said, “A difficult day, for sure. I think we need to have a good look [at] what if we’d used another strategy, if it would have given us anything. I don’t think so, in hindsight.”

Despite a solid start, Ocon struggled with race pace, losing positions to rivals on fresher tyres. “Just coming out of the car now, we struggled a little bit, especially towards the end to keep the cars behind that were a bit quicker on fresher tyres,” he admitted.

Haas’ Inconsistent Performance and the Road Ahead

Haas have seen a mix of results this season, with some standout performances like their fifth-place finish at the Belgian Grand Prix Sprint. However, consistency has been a major challenge for the team. Ocon added, “Looking at this first half, I think there are some positives, definitely. We’ve scored a decent amount of points, but we are not consistent enough and where we want to be every single time.”

The team’s performance at the Hungaroring reflected this inconsistency, as Ocon ultimately finished 16th. “We are not there every single weekend, and this is where we need to get the consistency together,” he said. “We are working on that. I have full trust behind the team and it’s far from over this season.”

On the other side of the Haas garage, Ollie Bearman faced his own struggles. Starting in 11th, he dropped back after suffering rear floor damage. “I was really struggling with my feeling with the car, just massive oversteer for the whole stint,” Bearman explained. “In the second stint it looks like we picked up some damage somewhere, because we saw a big drop in [aerodynamic] loads. At that point, it was clear that we couldn’t finish the race.”

Bearman was disappointed with the race outcome, saying, “It’s disappointing. I was just surviving, essentially, which is not a good feeling in a race.”

Heading into the summer break, Haas sits ninth in the Teams’ Championship with 35 points. They are 15 points clear of Alpine, in last place, and 10 points behind Racing Bulls in eighth.

For Haas, the priority is clear: building consistency for the second half of the season.
