Wolves Turn Down Newcastle’s £55m Bid for Strand LarsenWolves Turn Down Newcastle’s £55m Bid for Strand Larsen

Wolves have rejected Newcastle’s second bid worth £55m for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, keeping firm as the transfer deadline looms. Newcastle are desperate for new attacking options, with Alexander Isak pushing for a move to Liverpool and refusing to feature this season.

Wolves turned down an earlier £50m approach and remain reluctant to sell the Norway international. The club believes losing their star striker now would hurt their Premier League survival chances and leave little time to find a replacement before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Strand Larsen, who joined permanently from Celta Vigo for £23m this summer, highlighted his value by scoring twice in the final eight minutes of Wolves’ 3-2 EFL Cup win over West Ham on Tuesday.

Pereira on Transfer Uncertainty

After the victory, Wolves boss Vitor Pereira refused to close the door on a sale but stressed his desire to keep the forward.

He said: “Football is football and every player has a price, even [Lionel] Messi or Cristiano [Ronaldo]. I understand football but for me it’s very important for us. We will see what happens. If it’s my decision, of course [he stays]. He is a very important player.”

Professionalism from Strand Larsen

Despite Newcastle’s interest, Strand Larsen has shown full professionalism. Pereira praised the 25-year-old’s attitude and commitment.

He said: “I know a lot of players in my career in this situation and they have asked me not to play but he wants to play every time. He wants to help the team. In the last seven or eight months I am with him, I know him very well. He will never force. Of course we know football is football. You must be ready for everything but I want to keep the best players and this kind of player with us.”

What’s Next?

Newcastle see Strand Larsen as an ideal addition, but Wolves’ stance remains firm. With Isak unsettled and Liverpool circling, the Magpies may intensify their pursuit. Wolves, however, are prioritising survival over profit and are determined to hold on to their top scorer.
