Luis Diaz scored on his Bayern Munich debut as Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 2-1 to lift the German Supercup 2025. Harry Kane also scored as the Bundesliga champion claimed its first trophy of the new season.
Kane opens the scoring for Bayern
Bayern dominated the early stages and took the lead in the 18th minute. The ball fell kindly to Harry Kane, who calmly struck it inside the left post. The English striker looked sharp and gave Bayern early control in the match.
“To start with a trophy is the most important thing,” Kane said after the win. It was only his second career team title, following his Bundesliga triumph in May.
Stuttgart attempted to fight back with Nick Woltemade testing Manuel Neuer. The young forward remains linked with Bayern, but Stuttgart chief Alexander Wehrle stated before the game, “The file is closed.”
Diaz seals victory on debut
Manuel Neuer produced a brilliant reflex save to deny Jamie Leweling in the 75th minute. Just two minutes later, Luis Diaz struck Bayern’s second goal. The Colombian winger scored while Leweling was still off the field receiving treatment after clashing with Sacha Boey.
“Undoubtedly painful, but still, and perhaps unpopular, but he needs to feel the pain on the field and not two meters away from it,” Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß said.
Leweling returned to score a stoppage-time header for Stuttgart, but it was not enough. Bayern held firm to win the German Supercup 2025.
Bayern’s season starts with silverware
For Diaz, who joined from Liverpool last month, the goal was the perfect start to his Bayern career. His debut strike secured silverware and showed his potential impact on the squad.
Bayern will now focus on its Bundesliga and German Cup campaigns. Stuttgart begins its Cup defense against Eintracht Braunschweig on August 26, while Bayern faces Wehen Wiesbaden the following day.
