India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav has shown great faith in Shivam Dube’s bowling as the team prepares for the India vs Australia T20I series. He lauded Dube’s work ethic, clarity of plans, and ability to adjust to Australian pitches.

Speaking to the media ahead of the first match, Suryakumar highlighted how Shivam Dube has honed his skills through consistent practice.

“He knows what the conditions are and how to bowl here. But he has been working really hard on his bowling,” Suryakumar said.

The captain added that his belief in Dube’s bowling comes from years of playing alongside him.

“I showed him so much confidence that I made him bowl twice in the final of the Asia Cup because I knew it. I have played with him for 8–10 years. So I knew how good he was,” he added.

Dube’s Confidence Rooted in Preparation

Suryakumar credited Dube’s recent success to focused training and a composed mindset, which have helped him evolve into a key all-rounder.

“If your preparation is good, if you are practising well, if you have no doubt in your mind, then I think you are very clear with your plans and he is very clear with his plans,” he added.

During the 2025 Asia Cup, Dube stood out with his impactful bowling spells. In the Super 4 clash against Pakistan, he broke a vital partnership between Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub, returning figures of 2/33 in four overs. Earlier, against the United Arab Emirates, he took 3/4 in two overs, ending the tournament with five wickets in total.

A Reliable All-Round Option

Across 41 T20I matches, Dube has claimed 18 wickets, underlining his role as a valuable all-round contributor for India. Suryakumar believes Dube’s confidence will rise further when he bowls against stronger opponents.

“If we get an opportunity tomorrow, then why not? It’s a good team. If you bowl against a good team, then your confidence will increase,” he said.
