India vs Pakistan Match Cancelled in WCL 2025India vs Pakistan Match Cancelled in WCL 2025

The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 has been cancelled. The opening game for both teams was scheduled for Sunday. However, the match didn’t go ahead after several Indian players refused to play.

Big names like Shikhar Dhawan, Irfan Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, and Harbhajan Singh opted out due to ongoing political tensions with Pakistan. Their decision forced tournament organizers to scrap the fixture.

Despite this, the two teams could still meet later. If both sides qualify, they might face each other in the semi-finals or even the final. This situation puts the tournament format under pressure.

Pakistan Gets Two Points After India Withdraws

Since India chose not to play, Pakistan Champions received two points. The team’s owner, Kamil Khan, confirmed the decision. “All the remaining matches are taking place. The tournament is going on as per schedule, and there are no changes. As for the semifinals and final, we’re currently saying that if we make it to the semifinals, there will be four teams, and we will avoid matches between the two teams,” said Kamil Khan.

He added that no changes will be made to the ongoing fixture list. The league will take decisions on knockouts only if both teams qualify. “If we reach the final, then the decisions regarding that will be made then. And as for this match, the two points will be awarded to us, and we deserve those points as per the rules,” he added.

What If They Meet Again?

The organizers now face a possible repeat of the India vs Pakistan dilemma. If both teams move into the knockout stage, the tournament could again face tension.

The WCL may need to alter the semi-final or final lineup to prevent another clash. So far, officials haven’t confirmed any backup plan for this scenario.

Tournament Format Under the Scanner

India’s decision to skip the match has left fans disappointed and raised questions about the WCL’s ability to manage high-stakes rivalries. The cancellation also affects tournament balance and the spirit of the game.

The India vs Pakistan rivalry usually attracts massive global attention. Its absence could reduce viewer interest and media buzz around the tournament.

Despite this setback, organizers insist the WCL 2025 will continue without disruption.

Many fans took to social media to share their frustration. They urged both teams to put cricket first and resolve issues off the field. Some even called the WCL a missed opportunity to promote unity through sport.
