Explosive Australian opener Travis Head has signed a new contract with the Adelaide Strikers for the BBL 2025/26 season. This deal extends his 11-year association with the team. Head remains one of the most dangerous T20 batters in world cricket and a key figure at Adelaide Oval.
In a statement issued on Monday, Adelaide Strikers said, “The Adelaide Strikers are proud to announce that one of the world’s most exciting T20 batsmen, Travis Head, has signed on for another year in blue. Head has established himself as one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket, scoring runs at rapid rates in both franchise and international cricket.”
A Standout Year for Head
Head earned the Allan Border Medal this year, highlighting his dominant form across formats. He also received the One Day Player of the Year award. He narrowly missed the T20I Player of the Year title after scoring 539 runs in 15 matches.
The ICC currently ranks Head sixth among T20I batters. His 53-ball century on New Year’s Eve remains one of the most iconic knocks in BBL history. He smashed nine sixes that night, three in the last over. His 39-ball IPL hundred for Sunrisers Hyderabad added to his reputation as a power hitter.
Strong BBL Numbers
Head made his Strikers debut in the 2012/13 season. Since then, he has scored 1,394 runs in 57 matches with a strike rate of 130.40. His BBL record includes a century, eight fifties, and a best of 101*.
During the 2017/18 title-winning season, he hit 374 runs in nine innings at an average of 53.42. Across all T20s, Head has piled up 4,380 runs at an average of 30.62 and a strike rate above 148. He owns two centuries and 26 fifties in 165 matches.
“It is great to add another year on. It was a very easy decision to stay in Adelaide,” he said.
“We have had some awesome years at the Strikers, so I am looking forward to contributing, depending on what my availability is like over the summer. It makes it so easy to sign on because Adelaide Oval is the best ground in Australia, and we are really well supported by the best fans.”
Adelaide Strikers Build a Power-Packed Squad
The franchise has added Chris Lynn, Hasan Ali, and Jamie Overton to boost its firepower. Rising talents Liam Scott, Jason Sangha, and Mackenzie Harvey will strengthen the team’s depth.
Coach Tim Paine said, “We are thrilled to welcome Travis back to the Strikers – not only for his explosive batting, but for the energy, leadership and experience he adds to the group.”
“We understand Trav has a busy international schedule, but we are really looking forward to welcoming him back into the side after the Ashes.”
Head’s new deal gives the Adelaide Strikers a proven match-winner for the BBL 2025/26 season. His aggressive batting, experience, and leadership will be crucial to their title push.
