India’s commanding win in the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground saw head coach Gautam Gambhir applauding the efforts of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. The opening pair added a steady 69 runs, setting the platform for a comfortable chase of 237.

“With the bat, I thought the partnership between Shubman and Rohit was very, very important when it was 60 for no loss,” Gambhir said in a video shared by the BCCI.

The coach highlighted how their solid start eased the pressure early in the innings and allowed the middle order to play freely.

Gambhir’s Special Mention for Virat Kohli

Gambhir then turned his attention to the match-winning stand between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The duo added 168 runs for the second wicket, guiding India to victory without losing another wicket.

“And then the partnership between Rohit and Virat was again outstanding. And special mention to another 100 [century], outstanding. The most important thing was that you finished it off, and Virat as well,” Gambhir added.

He further praised their unbeaten finish, calling it an example of how the team should execute chases.

“I thought that is something which was very important from the team’s point of view as well, and how clinical we can be in these chases, and we were very good,” he said.

Kohli and Rohit Near End of Their Australian Chapter

After the match, Rohit Sharma admitted this might have been the last Australia tour for both him and Kohli. With the South Africa series up next at home, their focus will be on maintaining their rhythm and fitness.

Rohit was named Player of the Series for his consistent performances throughout the matches. Kohli, on the other hand, bounced back strongly after two early dismissals in the series.

Ro-Ko Partnership Ends Tour on a High

Their partnership not only sealed the chase but also reminded everyone why Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remain India’s most dependable pair. Their calm approach under pressure and finishing touch gave India a convincing series finish.
