McLaren Boss Sounds Alert Over 2026 Regulation ShiftMcLaren Boss Sounds Alert Over 2026 Regulation Shift

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has sent out a clear warning. The team sealed the 2025 Constructors’ Championship at the Singapore Grand Prix, but Stella believes the hardest test is yet to come.

At Marina Bay Street Circuit, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished third and fourth. Their combined 27 points pushed McLaren to 650 overall. That put them far ahead of Mercedes with 325 and Ferrari with 298. The gap made the title mathematically unreachable with six races still left.

After the race, Stella, Zak Brown, Norris and Piastri returned to the McLaren Technology Centre. The entire team gathered to celebrate the Constructors’ trophy.

“It’s remarkable to be celebrating our second Constructors’ Championship in two years,” Stella explained. “To be able to secure the 2025 title with six races yet to go is unbelievable. This incredible result for the entire team is a special moment and one we can reflect on with immense pride and recognition as consecutive World Champions.

“Thank you to Lando and Oscar. And thank you to our families, our loved ones and friends who share with us the sacrifice and the intensity of competing in Formula 1. Thank you to our teammates at HPP, our technical and commercial partners, and our fantastic fans. We have achieved this success together and that will only breed hunger to continue this success going forward.”

2026 Rule Changes Bring a New Challenge

The 2025 title is a huge moment for McLaren. But Stella stressed that the 2026 regulation overhaul will test every team’s strength. These new technical rules will reshape the grid. They will also force teams to rethink car design and power unit strategy.

“We have six rounds remaining, however, we must remain focused and prepared as our biggest challenge is still to come with the change of regulations in 2026,” he continued. “This challenge will be like climbing Everest, and is one we will attack together. Every minute counts and as a team, we will make sure we continue to work hard to continue our journey as World Champions.”

McLaren Shifts Focus to the Future

Winning the championship early gives McLaren a big advantage. They can now focus their energy on the 2026 car project. Stella wants the team to stay ahead of the curve.

The upcoming regulation changes are expected to shake up Formula 1. But McLaren is determined to be ready for what comes next.
