Liverpool and Man City in Battle for GuehiLiverpool and Man City in Battle for Guehi

Liverpool want Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, but Manchester City have entered the race for his signature. Manchester United are showing interest in Inter’s Denzel Dumfries. Liverpool are also keeping an eye on Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.

City and Liverpool want Guehi

Liverpool tried to sign Marc Guehi on deadline day with a £35m bid. Crystal Palace blocked the move at the last minute. The Palace captain will become a free agent next summer, making him a hot property.

The Mirror reports: “Manchester City are ready to rival Liverpool to sign Marc Guehi as a free agent next summer. And it could develop into a huge transfer tug-of-war between two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs for the England defender.”

It also states: “Liverpool will revisit their interest next summer and will feel they have a big advantage in the race to sign Guehi. And now they have serious interest from City to contend with as the Manchester giants are huge admirers of the classy centre-half.”

Man Utd target Dumfries

Manchester United are preparing a January move for Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch full-back has already admitted that he wants to play in the Premier League.

Manchester Evening News, citing Football Insider, writes: “Man United are reportedly interested in Dumfries ahead of the January transfer window. However, Football Insider claim that City are also keen to secure the services of Inter Milan and Netherlands full-back. The 29-year-old recently revealed that he is open to a move to the Premier League, seemingly leaving the door open for a transfer to either Old Trafford or the Etihad.”

His deal with Inter runs out next summer. He can talk to foreign clubs from January.

Liverpool eye Baleba

Liverpool are also linked with Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba. The 20-year-old was valued at more than £100m in the summer. That price discouraged Manchester United from making a move.

The Liverpool Echo adds: “Reports on Monday emerged claiming that Brighton star Carlos Baleba may be a target for Liverpool. Indykaila reported that The Reds could make a move for Baleba in January, with the same outlet being credited by The Athletic’s David Ornstein about Manchester United’s interest earlier in the summer. United are reportedly still interested in signing Baleba – with some suggestions that Brighton would demand a fee in excess of £100m for the midfielder. However, Liverpool may have a different valuation in mind should their interest turn out to be genuine.”

Liverpool see Baleba as a possible option for their midfield rebuild. But Brighton’s high demands may block a deal.
